A little birdie (named Sam, jerk ate all my birdseed) told me that you've taken photos recently with your newly fixed camera!
Hurray for new posts to come!

David, I am very disappointed. One of the things I always look forward to with your entries are the captions of the photos. Two times now there have been no captions. Shame on you, David, shame.

And also, I'm fairly sure that gecko is really a lizard.

I actually disagree with you on the leaf situation. For me, it grounds the picture (ironic?) and brings attention to the gecko's face. You're lucky he sat so still for you though. I always have problems with moving objects/people/animals. : /

Did he happen to save you any money on car insurance?

You could always try straightening the photo in a program like iPhoto.
Although I feel the slight crookedness helps avoid some of the monotony that the rule of thirds is used to fix (if that makes any sense).

Hurray for frequent postings :D
This reminds me of a shot that I took of a dark stone mountain staircase and the bright sky on the side (sounds more impressive than it is). Unfortunately I think the contrast between the sky and the dark details of the staircase was so large that I would have needed to do something like a HDR style photograph with it. But alas I had no tripod on me, and I've never done an HDR before :(

i like the idea of the silouhette- i was actually thinking that as i looked at it. thatll look so sweet.

and i also agree with the need for a better title, though "bird on a dock" is more complex and interesting than "bird." step by step! lol
